Fiber art is artwork created by using fiber materials that can be touched, smelled, worn, or eaten, and therefore requires more than the visual sense to be appreciated. For centuries, fiber art has evolved from traditional craft-based weving, embroidery, dyeing, and stitching, all of which have been regarded as "women's work," to a more conbemporary conceptual form of expression for toth men dand women from all artistic dsciplines.

FIZA's main goals are to collaborate with non-artists (including physically impared people) and artists in various art firlds in creating and promoting interactive art pieces, as well as to promote international art and cultural exchange, mainly in the Pan Pacific region, in order to enrich the life and heritage of various peoples and the natural environment. FIZA also aims to pass down traditional arts and crafts to the next generation as well as to improve women's social status in developing countries through craftwork.
